Who we are
CODA is a versatile musical duet featuring Malcolm Anderson on keyboards and piano and Scott Dorff on saxophones. For more than thirty years, CODA has brought their signature sound to audiences across the region. The duo has released five albums, performed over 10,000 shows, and sold more than 100,000 albums.
Their performance history includes notable events such as Senator Norm Coleman’s campaign fundraiser with President Bush in attendance at Target Center, two seasons of performances for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the suites-level bar and reception area, and events for the Billy Graham Association.
CODA’s music has reached thousands through a wide range of venues and events. Their corporate clients have included Medtronic, Grayco, BMO Harris Bank, Wells Fargo, Ameriprise Corporation, Rise Inc., and many others.
Malcolm Anderson began piano studies at age six and continued developing his musicianship throughout grade school and high school. After graduation, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Keyboard Performance.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Malcolm served as music director for churches in both California and Minnesota. He now teaches private piano and keyboard students in his home studio, sharing his passion for music with learners of all ages.
In addition to performing regularly with CODA, Malcolm remains active in local church ministries and community music outreach.
Scott Dorff began studying saxophone at age eleven and continued developing his musicianship throughout his high school years at Blaine Senior High School in Blaine, Minnesota. During that time, he performed in both the jazz and concert bands and, at age eighteen, was honored with the John Philip Sousa Award.
Following high school, Scott continued his musical training at the MacPhail Center for the Arts, studying theory, voice, and saxophone. During this period, he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech/Communications from the University of Minnesota. In addition, he performed with the jazz and concert bands at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Today, Scott performs with various local bands, participates in church music ministries, and contributes to freelance studio recording projects. He also performs regularly with CODA.
